About Us

Welcome to Holtzmacher

Holtzmacher was established in 1978 by Michael Holtz, a third generation woodworker, to provide design and woodworking services to homeowners, interior designers and architects throughout the Midwest. Since then, he and his staff have been dedicated to designing and building custom home interiors that achieve optimum function, versatility and beauty.

Holtzmacher is a full service woodworking company with over three decades of experience designing, building and installing premium quality woodwork for home interiors. We specialize in custom cabinetry for kitchens and baths, library and great room cabinetry, wood paneling, fine wood furniture, architectural millwork and historical restoration.

Though we employ traditional methods of wood construction and joinery, we are continually inspired by the emerging trends in the woodworking industry. We maintain the highest woodworking standards while integrating the latest conveniences available today in custom kitchen and bath design.

At Holtzmacher, we use only the finest hardwoods and veneers with a discerning eye for quality and beauty. Our custom cabinetry and furnishings are designed and built to last a lifetime, a commitment we keep throughout every step of our construction process.

In 1998, we moved into our spacious new headquarters in Sycamore, Illinois, sixty miles west of Chicago. We invite you to visit our new showroom to experience the lifetime commitment we can offer you and your furniture.

About the Owners

Holtzmacher Woodworking FamilyOur owner, Michael Holtz, received a Bachelor of Science degree in Wood Technology from Northern Illinois University. After completing a seven-year apprenticeship under his father's guidance in the cabinet making business, Mike founded Holtzmacher in 1978 and is the President of the company.

Mike personally works with homeowners and interior designers to design the custom cabinetry and architectural millwork envisioned for each client's home interior. Mike is assisted by his wife, Barbara, who received a Master of Arts degree in Art History from Northern Illinois University.  She is the Vice President of Holtzmacher.

The Holtz's son, Nick, joined the company in 2001 and is the lead architectural draftsman and project coordinator. Nick oversees our residential projects, from the preparation of the architectural drawings submitted to our clients, to the installation of the cabinetry and architectural millwork built by Holtzmacher.

The Holtz's daughter, Jacqueline, joined Holtzmacher's drafting department in 2007. She prepares the detailed shop drawings used by our experienced cabinetmakers to build the woodwork in our on-site production facility.

Together, Nick and Jacqueline are dedicated to continuing the Holtzmacher tradition of fine cabinet and furniture making established by their father, Mike.

Note to the Design Professional

At Holtzmacher, we often build to the design professional's specifications. For the design community, we provide detailed shop drawings created on AutoCad software which enable us to fully communicate your design. This ensures that each and every detail of your client's cabinetry and millwork is built exactly as you have designed it. We provide finish samples prior to the application of our custom finishes to guarantee they meet your high quality standards.

Though anchored in a traditional background, we employ state-of-the-art production equipment to achieve a successful on-time delivery of our work. In-house finishing also allows us to maintain an efficient schedule. To keep a tight control on quality, we build all of the cabinetry and furnishings in our own production facility in Sycamore, Illinois, sixty miles west of Chicago. Our professional installers ensure that all of the cabinetry and architectural millwork built by Holtzmacher is expertly installed.

We feel privileged to have established a successful working relationship with many design professionals in the Midwest. We would be honored to include you among our valued associates in the design community.

We invite you and your clients to take a personal tour of our new showroom and production facility at your convenience, day or evening, by making an appointment with Michael or Barbara Holtz. If you prefer, we are also available to meet with you at your location.
